Pres­i­dent, PM dis­cuss mat­ters of na­tional im­por­tance

Prime Min­is­ter Nawaz Sharif on Fri­day called on Pres­i­dent Mam­noon Hus­sain at the Ai­wan-e-Sadr and held de­tailed con­sul­ta­tion on mat­ters re­gard­ing Op­er­a­tion Zarb-e-Azb, sit­u­a­tion in Balochis­tan and Sindh, flood sit­u­a­tion and ef­forts for re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of the flood af­fectees. The Prime Min­is­ter and the Pres­i­dent ex­changed views on mat­ters of na­tional im­por­tance. The Prime Min­is­ter took the Pres­i­dent into con­fi­dence on de­vel­op­ments re­gard­ing dif­fer­ent na­tional is­sues and re­lated de­ci­sions of the gov­ern­ment, a press re­lease is­sued from the Pres­i­dent's Of­fice said.

The two lead­ers re­viewed in de­tail the Op­er­a­tion Zarb-e-Azb and ac­tions be­ing car­ried out in dif­fer­ent parts of the coun­try to elim­i­nate law­less­ness and ter­ror­ism and ex­pressed sat­is­fac­tion over the re­sults. They ex­pressed hope that sit­u­a­tion would fur­ther im­prove in the coun­try as a re­sult of these ef­forts. De­tailed con­sul­ta­tion was held be­tween the Pres­i­dent and the Prime Min­is­ter over the sit­u­a­tion in Balochis­tan and Sindh.

The Prime Min­is­ter took the Pres­i­dent into con­fi­dence on the over­all sit­u­a­tion pre­vail­ing in both the prov­inces and the gov­ern­ment poli­cies and de­ci­sions in this re­gard. The Pres­i­dent and the Prime Min­is­ter noted with sat­is­fac­tion that pos­i­tive re­sults are emerg­ing in con­se­quence of ac­tions be­ing taken to end law­less­ness in these prov­inces. The Pres­i­dent ad­vised the Prime Min­is­ter that the gov­ern­ment should con­tinue with its ef­forts to re­store law and or­der and carry out mea­sures for eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment and progress. Both the lead­ers also ex­pressed sat­is­fac­tion over the im­prove­ment in law and or­der sit­u­a­tion in Karachi and in­te­rior Sindh and noted that per­for­mance of gov­ern­ment de­part­ments has also im­proved.

The two lead­ers agreed that the process of con­struc­tive mea­sures should con­tinue for im­prove­ment of sit­u­a­tion in Sindh and Balochis­tan. Ex­press­ing sat­is­fac­tion over the ef­forts be­ing car­ried out in dif­fer­ent parts of coun­try for re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of flood af­fectees, the two lead­ers re­solved not to leave the flood af­fectees in the lurch and mo­bi­lize all avail­able re­sources for their re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion.

Both the lead­ers ex­pressed deep grief over the army he­li­copter crash near Mansehra and prayed for sal­va­tion of the mar­tyred army of­fi­cers and jawans.

The two lead­ers con­curred that coun­try­wide work on public wel­fare projects in ed­u­ca­tion and health sec­tors should con­tinue ex­pe­di­tiously. The Pres­i­dent noted that the na­tional econ­omy was im­prov­ing day by day and com­mended ef­forts of the Prime Min­is­ter and his team in this re­gard due to which re­lief was be­ing passed on to the peo­ple.
