President, PM discuss matters of national importance
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and held detailed consultation on matters regarding Operation Zarb-e-Azb, situation in Balochistan and Sindh, flood situation and efforts for rehabilitation of the flood affectees. The Prime Minister and the President exchanged views on matters of national importance. The Prime Minister took the President into confidence on developments regarding different national issues and related decisions of the government, a press release issued from the President's Office said.
The two leaders reviewed in detail the Operation Zarb-e-Azb and actions being carried out in different parts of the country to eliminate lawlessness and terrorism and expressed satisfaction over the results. They expressed hope that situation would further improve in the country as a result of these efforts. Detailed consultation was held between the President and the Prime Minister over the situation in Balochistan and Sindh.
The Prime Minister took the President into confidence on the overall situation prevailing in both the provinces and the government policies and decisions in this regard. The President and the Prime Minister noted with satisfaction that positive results are emerging in consequence of actions being taken to end lawlessness in these provinces. The President advised the Prime Minister that the government should continue with its efforts to restore law and order and carry out measures for economic development and progress. Both the leaders also expressed satisfaction over the improvement in law and order situation in Karachi and interior Sindh and noted that performance of government departments has also improved.
The two leaders agreed that the process of constructive measures should continue for improvement of situation in Sindh and Balochistan. Expressing satisfaction over the efforts being carried out in different parts of country for rehabilitation of flood affectees, the two leaders resolved not to leave the flood affectees in the lurch and mobilize all available resources for their rehabilitation.
Both the leaders expressed deep grief over the army helicopter crash near Mansehra and prayed for salvation of the martyred army officers and jawans.
The two leaders concurred that countrywide work on public welfare projects in education and health sectors should continue expeditiously. The President noted that the national economy was improving day by day and commended efforts of the Prime Minister and his team in this regard due to which relief was being passed on to the people.
