Shahbaz orders foolproof security on Independen­ce Day

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Cabinet Committee on Law & Order to ensure foolproof security arrangemen­ts on the eve of Independen­ce Day while special measures should be taken for the security of Independen­ce Day ceremonies and sensitive places.

He directed that police and law enforcemen­t agencies should remain fully alert and perform their duties with commitment and efficiency with regard to protection of life and property of citizens. He said that security plan evolved for Independen­ce Day should be fully implemente­d. The Chief Minister further directed that Independen­ce Day procession­s should be monitored through CCTV cameras and senior police officers should remain in the field for reviewing security measures.

He said that a vigilant eye should be kept on miscreants while law enforcemen­t agencies should maintain close coordinati­on. He further directed that special measures should also be taken on Independen­ce Day for maintainin­g flow of traffic in Murree and around other recreation­al and historical sites. Shahbaz Sharif said that all out steps should be taken for the protection of life and property of citizens on Independen­ce Day and maximum resources should be utilized for this purpose.

Shahbaz Sharif has also directed con- cerned institutio­ns to remain fully alert to cope with dengue and take effective measures in this regard in Lahore as well as throughout the province.

He said that the plan evolved for this purpose should be fully implemente­d. Issuing instructio­ns to the Cabinet Committee against Dengue, the Chief Minister said that concerned department­s should make collective efforts to control dengue virus and full attention should be paid to indoor and outdoor surveillan­ce.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Cabinet Committee against Dengue should work in a coordinate­d manner. He said that checking of tyre shops, graveyards, under- constructi­on buildings and junkyards should be continued and condemned tyres should be disposed of in a proper manner. He said that concerned institutio­ns and district administra­tion should play an active role for dealing with dengue. He said that arrangemen­ts should be made for the disposal of rainwater from Lahore and other cities of Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that due to effective measures taken by the government, dengue virus has been controlled and work should be carried out with the same spirit during the current year as was displayed during the previous years. He said that every institutio­n will have to perform its duties efficientl­y for saving the people from dengue.
