Shah­baz or­ders fool­proof se­cu­rity on In­de­pen­dence Day

Punjab Chief Min­is­ter Muham­mad Shah­baz Sharif has di­rected the Cab­i­net Com­mit­tee on Law & Or­der to en­sure fool­proof se­cu­rity ar­range­ments on the eve of In­de­pen­dence Day while spe­cial mea­sures should be taken for the se­cu­rity of In­de­pen­dence Day cer­e­monies and sen­si­tive places.

He di­rected that po­lice and law en­force­ment agen­cies should re­main fully alert and per­form their du­ties with com­mit­ment and ef­fi­ciency with re­gard to pro­tec­tion of life and prop­erty of cit­i­zens. He said that se­cu­rity plan evolved for In­de­pen­dence Day should be fully im­ple­mented. The Chief Min­is­ter fur­ther di­rected that In­de­pen­dence Day pro­ces­sions should be mon­i­tored through CCTV cam­eras and se­nior po­lice of­fi­cers should re­main in the field for re­view­ing se­cu­rity mea­sures.

He said that a vig­i­lant eye should be kept on mis­cre­ants while law en­force­ment agen­cies should main­tain close co­or­di­na­tion. He fur­ther di­rected that spe­cial mea­sures should also be taken on In­de­pen­dence Day for main­tain­ing flow of traf­fic in Mur­ree and around other recre­ational and his­tor­i­cal sites. Shah­baz Sharif said that all out steps should be taken for the pro­tec­tion of life and prop­erty of cit­i­zens on In­de­pen­dence Day and max­i­mum re­sources should be uti­lized for this pur­pose.

Shah­baz Sharif has also di­rected con- cerned in­sti­tu­tions to re­main fully alert to cope with dengue and take ef­fec­tive mea­sures in this re­gard in La­hore as well as through­out the province.

He said that the plan evolved for this pur­pose should be fully im­ple­mented. Is­su­ing in­struc­tions to the Cab­i­net Com­mit­tee against Dengue, the Chief Min­is­ter said that con­cerned de­part­ments should make col­lec­tive ef­forts to con­trol dengue virus and full at­ten­tion should be paid to in­door and out­door sur­veil­lance.

Shah­baz Sharif said that Cab­i­net Com­mit­tee against Dengue should work in a co­or­di­nated man­ner. He said that check­ing of tyre shops, grave­yards, un­der- con­struc­tion build­ings and junk­yards should be con­tin­ued and con­demned tyres should be dis­posed of in a proper man­ner. He said that con­cerned in­sti­tu­tions and dis­trict ad­min­is­tra­tion should play an ac­tive role for deal­ing with dengue. He said that ar­range­ments should be made for the dis­posal of rain­wa­ter from La­hore and other cities of Punjab.

The Chief Min­is­ter said that due to ef­fec­tive mea­sures taken by the gov­ern­ment, dengue virus has been con­trolled and work should be car­ried out with the same spirit dur­ing the cur­rent year as was dis­played dur­ing the pre­vi­ous years. He said that ev­ery in­sti­tu­tion will have to per­form its du­ties ef­fi­ciently for sav­ing the peo­ple from dengue.
