Keep­ing money in bank ac­counts is no more safe in our coun­try as hack­ers can de­prive one's hard earned money by hack­ing once ac­count, it was learnt re­li­ably. In a re­cent in­ci­dent hack­ers have de­prived a Stan­dard Char­tered Bank ac­count holder Tehreem, daugh­ter of DG C&W Muham­mad Nawaz of Rs 0.3 mil­lion, sources said. The ac­coun­tholder ap­proached her bank, how­ever, the bank de­nied that her ac­count was op­er­ated by hack­ers; the bank ac­coun­tholder was quoted as say­ing. It was said that she con­tacted Fed­eral In­ves­ti­ga­tion Agency FIA cy­ber­crime unit and the agency has started probe. The ac­coun­tholder said that she came to know about the fact when she re­ceived mes­sage from the bank. Fol­low­ing she ap­plied to the FIA, the agency has put all out ef­forts to nab the cul­prit by us­ing cy­ber­crime ap­pli­ca­tion. How­ever, the cul­prits are still at large, it was said. The rob­beries from the on­line bank ac­counts have in­creased dur­ing the last six months. Ear­lier, a Habib Bank La­hore ac­coun­tholder As­lam was de­prived of his Rs 30,000 from Is­lamic Bank ATM. The skim­mers with­drew Rs 30000 from his ac­count and when he ap­proached his bank HBL near Nila Gun­bad Branch, the bank replied it was not their fault. He, how­ever, had to reg­is­ter com­plaint at the Bank­ing Om­buds­man. Sim­i­lar, in­ci­dents have also been re­ported in Rawalpindi where skim­mers have de­prived the bank cus­tomers of their money.
