CPPA sug­gests Rs 3.38/unit cut in elec­tric­ity prices

Cen­tral Power Pur­chase Agency (CPPA) on Wed­nes­day has sug­gested to cut Rs3.38/unit in elec­tric­ity prices in March.

A sum­mery has also been dis­patched to Na­tional Elec­tric Power Reg­u­la­tory Au­thor­ity (Nepra), rec­om­mend­ing Rs3.38/unit de­crease in power prices. The agency stated that the re­duc­tion has been made un­der monthly fuel ad­just­ment of Jan­uary month.

It said the cost of elec­tric­ity pro­duc­tion through high speed diesel was Rs 12.20/unit, Rs 6.28/unit for fur­nace oil and Rs 6.01/unit was learnt for gas dur­ing Jan­uary.

The re­quest fur­ther stated that the cost of nu­clear elec­tric­ity pro­duc­tion was Rs 1.12/unit and power im­ported from Iran was Rs 10.60/unit while the ref­er­ence price de­cided for Jan­uary was Rs 9.86/unit but the av­er­age power pro­duc­tion was recorded as Rs 6.48/unit, there­fore, the au­thor­i­ties should per­mit to re­lief the na­tion by slash­ing the prices for March. More­over, Nepra will hold the hear­ing on March 1 into the mat­ter.
