CPPA suggests Rs 3.38/unit cut in electricity prices
Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) on Wednesday has suggested to cut Rs3.38/unit in electricity prices in March.
A summery has also been dispatched to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), recommending Rs3.38/unit decrease in power prices. The agency stated that the reduction has been made under monthly fuel adjustment of January month.
It said the cost of electricity production through high speed diesel was Rs 12.20/unit, Rs 6.28/unit for furnace oil and Rs 6.01/unit was learnt for gas during January.
The request further stated that the cost of nuclear electricity production was Rs 1.12/unit and power imported from Iran was Rs 10.60/unit while the reference price decided for January was Rs 9.86/unit but the average power production was recorded as Rs 6.48/unit, therefore, the authorities should permit to relief the nation by slashing the prices for March. Moreover, Nepra will hold the hearing on March 1 into the matter.
