Du broad­band cus­tomers af­fected af­ter ca­ble cut

DUBAI: UAE tele­com ser­vice provider du an­nounced on Sun­day that some of its cus­tomers might face tem­po­rary slow­ness in broad­band speeds dur­ing peak times be­cause of sub­ma­rine ca­ble cuts. Mul­ti­ple sub­ma­rine ca­ble cuts were took place near Egypt on du part­ners' ca­ble sys­tems on Satur­day night. In a state­ment, du said it was work­ing on pri­or­ity to re­pair the af­fected sys­tems, and would be in con­stant touch with the sub­ma­rine ca­ble sys­tem providers. The com­pany has taken all mea­sures to reroute traf­fic through al­ter­nate ca­ble sys­tems to min­imise im­pact, said a se­nior du of­fi­cial.
