Provision of best medical facilities is our mission: CM
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that provision of best treatment facilities to the people of the province is mission of the government and we will ensure provision of quality medical facilities to the people jointly. He said that service to ailing humanity is not less than a kind of worship. He said that all out resources will be provided for this purpose. The Chief Minister said that encouragement of EDOs Health and administrative officers of those districts ensuring achievement of fixed targets for the uplift of health sector will be continued whereas those EDOs Health and administrative officers showing poor performance will be held accountable.
He said that Punjab government has given the biggest budget of the history of health sector. He said that the results with regard to provision of public health facilities should be come fore.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting which continued for four hours, here today, in which facilities being provided to the patients at tehsil and district headquarters hospitals, performance of rural and basic health units and provision of quality health facilities to the people of the province were reviewed in detail.
The meeting decided to make system of availability and provision of free medicines to the patients in the hospitals should be digitalized under a phased programme which will help in checking of embezzlement of free medicines in the hospitals and ensure provision of free medicines to the patients.
Shehbaz Sharif said that provision of modern and quality public health facilities is top priority of the government and keeping in view this objective, historic budget for health sector has been allocated in the history of the province.
He said that we all will have to work jointly for the provision of quality public health facilities. He said that all concerned institutions and departments have to discharge their duties with an effective coordination.
The Chief Minister directed to ensure achievement of fixed targets for providing quality public health facilities and added that no effort should be spared in the treatment of ailing humanity in tehsil and district head- quarters hospitals and rural and basic health centers. He said that immediate steps should be taken for removing the shortage of medical staff in rural and basic health centers. He said that steps should be taken with the help of information technology for ensuring attendance of medical and other staff at health centers at every cost.
Shehbaz Sharif expressing his indignation over delay in completion of some matters in performance of duties of vaccinators in some districts said that such delay is intolerable in the performance of duties of vaccinators and action will be taken against the persons responsible of delay.
