FBR seeks busi­ness­men, tax bar sup­port for rev­enue en­hance­ment

Mem­ber, In­land Rev­enue (Op­er­a­tions) Fed­eral Board of Rev­enue (FBR), Is­lam­abad, Dr. Mo­ham­mad Ir­shad vis­ited Re­gional Tax Of­fice (RTO), Pe­shawar and held marathon meet­ings with mem­bers of Pe­shawar Tax Bar As­so­ci­a­tion, rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Cham­ber of Com­merce & In­dus­try (KPCCI) and tax of­fi­cials.

On this oc­ca­sion, Mem­ber (I.R) op­er­a­tions stressed upon the busi­ness com­mu­nity and tax bar to co­op­er­ate with the tax depart­ment for en­hanc­ing govern­ment rev­enues and con­tribut­ing to­wards eco­nomic sta­bil­ity and pros­per­ity of the coun­try. Rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Tax Bar as well as cham­ber of com­merce ap­prised the mem­ber about the prob­lems be­ing faced by them in par­tic­u­lar with re­spect to elec­tronic fil­ing of re­turns and slow space of is­suance of re­funds. The Mem­ber (Op­er­a­tions) as­sured them of full co­op­er­a­tion in this re­gard at the ear­li­est. He said that the whole IRIS sys­tem is be­ing re­vamped to fa­cil­i­tate them in fil­ing of their re­turns of in­come and other rel­e­vant doc­u­ments.

The bar and cham­ber mem­bers also high­lighted some of their in­di­vid­ual lo­cal tax is­sues. The mem­ber FBR is­sued di­rec­tions to the Chief Com­mis­sioner and other se­nior of­fi­cers to promptly ad­dress th­ese prob­lems. He also ad­vised them to give time­line for res­o­lu­tion of th­ese is­sues. Dr. Mo­ham­mad Ir­shad em­pha­sized that FBR has fully au­tho­rized and man­dated the Re­gional Chief Com­mis­sion­ers to re­solve tax pay­ers' prob­lems at their doorsteps.
