FBR seeks businessme­n, tax bar support for revenue enhancemen­t

Member, Inland Revenue (Operations) Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Islamabad, Dr. Mohammad Irshad visited Regional Tax Office (RTO), Peshawar and held marathon meetings with members of Peshawar Tax Bar Associatio­n, representa­tives of Khyber Pakhtunkhw­a Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KPCCI) and tax officials.

On this occasion, Member (I.R) operations stressed upon the business community and tax bar to cooperate with the tax department for enhancing government revenues and contributi­ng towards economic stability and prosperity of the country. Representa­tives of Tax Bar as well as chamber of commerce apprised the member about the problems being faced by them in particular with respect to electronic filing of returns and slow space of issuance of refunds. The Member (Operations) assured them of full cooperatio­n in this regard at the earliest. He said that the whole IRIS system is being revamped to facilitate them in filing of their returns of income and other relevant documents.

The bar and chamber members also highlighte­d some of their individual local tax issues. The member FBR issued directions to the Chief Commission­er and other senior officers to promptly address these problems. He also advised them to give timeline for resolution of these issues. Dr. Mohammad Irshad emphasized that FBR has fully authorized and mandated the Regional Chief Commission­ers to resolve tax payers' problems at their doorsteps.
