Full dress rehearsal of Pakistan Day Parade today

As part of preparatio­ns for Pakistan Day Parade, full dress rehearsal would be held on Monday at the Parade Venue here. Preparatio­ns of March 23 (Pakistan Day) parade holds a significan­t place in the history of Pakistan and to mark this day in a befitting manner, Armed Forces Pakistan Day Parade will be held in spectacula­r manner. As part of the arrangemen­ts and to facilitate commuters, special traffic arrangemen­ts have been made for March 21 (Monday) and March 23 (Wednesday).

In line to apprise the general public Traffic Plan for both the days is being publicized through electronic and print media. Participat­ing troops of the Parade including foot columns of Army, Navy,

Pakistan Air Force, Frontier Corps, Northern Light Infantry, Mujahid Force, Islamabad Police, tri-service Lady officers, tri-service Armed Forces Nursing Service, Girls Guide, Boys Scouts, Special Service Group from three Services, mechanized columns of Armoured Corps, Artillery, Army Air Defence, Signals, Engineers, Army Strategic Force Command, Camel Band and President's Body Guard would participat­e in the parade. Aviation would rehearse flypast for the final day. Aerobatics of PAF Sherdil team and JF-17 thunder and F-16 would also be part of full dress rehearsal. Skydivers of three services would present parajumps.

Meanwhile, according to the traffic plan issued by ISPR, for March 21 and March 23, entry of all types of vehicles from Faizabad to Rawal Dam square and Zero Point interchang­e will remain closed from 6 am to 3 pm. Entry of heavy vehicular traffic will remain closed at 12 am on March 20 to 1 pm on March 21, similarly from 12 am on March 22 to 3 pm on March 23. The vehicular traffic coming from Rawalpindi to Islamabad on Expressway would be diverted from Missile square towards Khanna Bridge, Captain Faisal Shaheed square to Rawal Dam, from there using Murree Raod and Kashmir Highway it would be able to access Islamabad. The vehicular traffic approachin­g Islamabad through IJP road would use the route of 9th Avenue and then Kashmir Highway while the traffic on Murree Road from Rawalpindi would be diverted to the Stadium Road thereby accessing Islamabad through 9th Avenue and Kashmir Highway.
