Govt providing conducive environment for business: President
President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government is making concerted efforts to provide incentives and conducive environment to country's industrialists and entrepreneurs to boost country's exports and further strengthen the national economy. The President said this while talking to a delegation of Sargodha Chamber of Commerce of Commerce & Industry (SCC&I) which headed by its President Mukhtar Mirza called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Tuesday.
The President assured that the present government is cognizant of the needs of business and industrial community and would do everything to help them within the available resources.
The President lauded government economic policies which have yielded good results that have been acknowledged by International Institutions and now Pakistan has been included in the Emerging markets index. The President said that with the completion of CPEC projects national economy would be further strengthened and emphasized that businessmen and industrialists should prepare themselves to fully utilize economic opportunities that would arise once CPEC projects are completed.
The President of Sargodha Chamber of Commerce apprised President Mamnoon Hussain about the problems being faced by the Chamber regarding establishment of Dry Port, Small Industries Estate and Women University in Sargodha. Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government's vision for the telecommunication sector is nationally available, affordable and quality telecommunication services that are provided through open, competitive, and well managed markets, for the benefit of the economy and society.
The President said this while talking to Secretary General, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Mr. Houlin Zhao who along with a delegation called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Tuesday. Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rahman was also present on the occasion.
President Mamnoon stated that the Government has formulated a comprehensive 'Pakistan Telecommunication Policy 2015' and hoped that it will spur socio-economic development and act as a catalyst towards achieving knowledge based society. The President noted that the telecommunication sector in Pakistan is one of the most dynamic sectors in the economy and during the last five years, this sector attracted Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of more than US$ 7 Billion which is a reflection of the right mix of regulatory and policy framework of the government.
President Mamnoon noted that Pakistan is a member of the ITU since 1947, and has participated actively in the activities of the organization adding that Pakistan looks forward to working closely with the ITU on joint strategies to benefit our people. The President hoped that visit of Mr. Houlin Zhao would serve to further strengthen the existing ties of cooperation between Pakistan and ITU and wished the delegation a productive and fruitful stay in Pakistan. Moreover, President Mamnoon Hussain has urged ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Netherlands to highlight that the law and order situation in Pakistan has improved significantly after the launch of operation Zarb-eAzb and there is conducive environment for foreign investment in the country.
