Nisar writes letter to Sindh CM over extension in Rangers' power

Minister of the Interior Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday wrote a letter to Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah regarding the extension in the authority of the Rangers. Nisar stated that Sindh government always delayed the extension in the powers of Rangers which placed an impact over in the Karachi operation.

Nisar requested Sindh CM to use his authority regarding the extension in the Rangers' powers. Interior minister said that the Rangers have played an important role in establishi­ng peace in Karachi.

Chaudhary Nisar expressed his concerns over the issue by stating that the operation in Karachi would be impacted because of unnecessar­y delay in the extension of the Rangers' authority whereas it may also place a negative impact upon the spirit and the performanc­e of the civil-armed forces.

Interior Minister said that it was the joint responsibi­lity of the federal and provincial government to ensure the removal of all hurdles in the path of peace.

Nisar contacted Rangers Director General (DG) Major Bilal Akbar via telephone and ensured him that the Rangers efforts for the establishm­ent of peace in the city will not go in vain, adding that the federal government shall continue playing its constituti­onal and legal role regarding the extension in the Rangers authority.
