Bank investment­s fall 0.01pc

According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended November 03, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,783.372 billion after a 0.05pc increase over the preceding week's figure of Rs11,777.383 billion. Compared with last year's correspond­ing figure of Rs10,407.608 billion, the current week's figure was higher by 13.22pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,694.161 billion against preceding week's deposits of Rs11,692.887 billion, showing a rise of 0.01pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialise­d banks stood at Rs89.210 billion, higher by 5.58pc against previous week's figure of Rs84.496 billion. Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,602.490 billion, lower by 0.56pc over preceding week's figure of Rs16,696.065 billion. Current week's figure is higher by 18.05pc compared to last year's correspond­ing figure of Rs14,063.739 billion.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,322.326 billion, lower by 0.64pc over previous week's figure of Rs16,427.481 billion, while total assets of specialise­d banks at Rs280.164 billion, were higher 4.31pc over the previous week's Rs. 268.584 billion. Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 3.98pc to Rs2,672.467 billion against previous week's Rs2,783.256 billion. Compared to last year's cor- responding figure of Rs1,638.999 billion, current week's figure is higher by63.05pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,577.105 billion were lower by 4.36pc against previous week's Rs2,694.624 billion. Borrowings by specialise­d banks stood at Rs95.362 billion against the previous week's figure of Rs88.633 billion. Investment­s of all scheduled banks stood at Rs8,340.840 billion against preceding week's figure of Rs8,341.985 billion, lower by 0.01pc. Compared to last year's correspond­ing figure of Rs7,172.266 billion, current week's figure is higher by 16.30pc.

Investment­s by all commercial banks stood at Rs8,260.693 billion, lower by 0.12pc against preceding week's figure of Rs8,270.936 billion.
