Government, People to continue Kashmiris' support
Government and the people of Pakistan would continue their steadfast political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir in their heroic struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination on the Occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed on Feb 5.
In his Kashmir Solidarity Day message, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir were promised right to self determination seven decades ago by the international community, however, India has continued to deny them their inalienable right by refusing to implement UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir. In-spite of barbaric Indian atrocities and apathy on behalf of a large part of the international commu- nity, the brave people of Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir have demonstrated exemplary resilience and grit in the face of perverse Indian aggression. India has failed miserably to absolve itself of its reprehensible human rights record in occupied Jammu & Kashmir by labelling it as terrorism. Jammu & Kashmir is the core dispute between India and Pakistan. Peace in the region will not be achieved until the resolution of this dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Pakistan reminds the international community, particularly India of its obligations and urges it to fulfill the promise made to the people of Jammu & Kashmir by implementing the UN Security Council resolutions.
On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, we reiterate our firm and continued moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of IoK in their sacred struggle. Only implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions can amicably resolve the Jammu & Kashmir dispute.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif Monday said the Indian army had failed to suppress the freedom movement of Kashmiri people through atrocities, large scale human rights violations, genocide and custodial killings in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a Kashmir conference here at Anwar Club Auditorium, he said now the time had come for the international community to wake up and put pressure on India to give the fundamental right of plebiscite to the oppressed Kashmiri people.
He said Pakistan always wanted the peaceful solution to the core issue of Kashmir and the world should ensure early implementation of the United Nations resolutions for that purpose.
The foreign minister said: "Kashmiris are not alone in their generation-to-generation struggle for their freedom from Indian yoke as every Pakistani stands with them."
He said the Indian Army had miserably failed to crush the Kashmiris' struggle for independence as they were writing a new chapter of their freedom movement with every passing day.
He said the martyrdom of Burhan Vani by the Indian Army in 2016 had given impetus to the Kashmir freedom movement. Khawaja Asif said Kashmir was a lifeline for Pakistan, and sacrifices of the thousands of Kashmiri martyrs would become fruitful and the day was not far when Kashmir would be free from the India subjugation. The minister said the whole Pakistani nation stood with the oppressed Kashmiri people and was showing complete solidarity with them.
