Public cooperation imperative to check kite-flying: Gill
Spokesman of Chief Minister Punjab Dr Shehbaz Gill Tuesday said the government had launched a crackdown against kite-flying.
He was visiting the residence of 22-year-old Muhammad Waqas son of Mehboob Elahi, resident of Khalida Abad who was killed by a string of a stray kite while riding a motorcycle at Rehmania Road on February 10, 2019.
Dr Shahbaz Gill said the government imposed a ban on kite-flying, therefore, strict action would be taken against all those involved in manufacturing kite-flying material, its storage, transportation, sale and purchase.
He also condoled with the family of ill- fated Muhammad Waqas and said that job would be provided to one of his educated brothers or sisters in the government department.
He said that kite-flying was a dangerous activity due to which the government imposed a ban on it, besides launching a vigorous campaign. He also directed the police to take prompt action against all those elements who were involved in manufacturing, storing, transport- ing, sale/purchase and use of kite-flying material.
Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad Sardar Saifullah Dogar, City Police Officer (CPO) Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Gulberg police seized heavy quantity of chemical-coated string from Jinnah colony and arrested a man.
A police spokesman told APP on Tuesday that on a tipoff, SHO Gulberg police station Syed Iram Shah conducted raid in Jinnah Colony and recovered 467 bags of chemical-coated string from godown of a house.
