KP to expand housing project to all districts
The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Government has planned to expand Khpal Kor (Own House) project to all districts of the province to provide quality housing facilities to low income groups, poor people and Government's employees at affordable rate under Prime Minister's Naya Pakistan Housing Project.
Muhammad Waqas Anjum, Financial Expert, Provincial Housing Authority (PHA) Govt of KP said that Government was planning to extend this mega project to all districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
He said a meeting of the KP Housing Provincial Task Force was recently held to deliberate on different aspects of Naya Pakistan Housing Project and Khpal Kor scheme, and a proposal was under construction to extend Khpal Kor scheme to other districts of the province after its enormous success in Peshawar, Nowshera, Kohat and Kohat districts to provide affordable housing for all under PM's vision.
Waqas Anjum said Khpal Kor scheme would be launched at Township in Hangu and Surizai Peshawar where sufficient land was available, adding plots would be given to disabled, martyrs and TDPs at discount rate.
PHA Financial Expert said ambitious scheme of 'Khpal Kor' through bank home finance was initially launched for Government employees in developed houses schemes of Provincial Housing Authority including Jalozai Nowshera, Mulazai Peshawar, Jerma Kohat and Havellian Abbottabad where residential plots were allotted to employees of KP Government through a transparent balloting procedure.
Keeping in view of people and Government employees' high demands for quality housings, he said the KP Government has planned to extend this mega project to all districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa to help the homeless people to have their own house.
Waqas said most of low paid employees did not afford to purchase or construct a house and spend their hard earned money by paying rent in their entire life, adding Naya Pakistan Housing and Khpal Kor projects was a blessing for all such employees.
He said KP government has signed an agreement with banks for acquiring loans for construction of houses under Kpal Kor scheme.
Those employees constructing home on five-marla plot will get loan of about Rs1.8 million, while Rs 2.5 million loan will be given for seven-marla plot and Rs 3 million for 10-marla plot under Khpal Kor. The employees will have to return these loans in 20 years in easy installments and have to complete construction of the house within one year.
The employees will have the choice either to complete the construction on their own arrangement or do it through a well reputed construction company contracted by the government.
Waqas Anjum said around 750,000 houses would be constructed in different districts of the province for poor people and low paid income groups in next five years under PM's Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme under which five million houses would be constructed in the country over a period of five years.
According to an official document, development of Hangu township through public private partnership (PPP) at 8300 kanal state land and development of Swat Model Town would help provide affordable housing facilities to people. Focus would be made for construction of high rising apartments in urban areas. Development of Smart Mega City over an area of about 117,000 kanal near Karnal Sher Khan interchange .
