PM warns of another Srebrenica-like massacre

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said the Muslim community in Indian occupied Kashmir was facing grave danger of ethnic cleansing as the heavily militarize­d territory witnessed 12 days of curfew and complete communicat­ion blackout.

The prime minister in a tweet alerted the world about the presence of extra troops and sending in of the goons of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamseva­k Sangh) by Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, who he said, was responsibl­e for earlier genocide of the Muslims in Gujarat.

"Will world silently witness another Srebrenica-type massacre & ethnic cleansing of Muslims in IOK?," the prime minister said, referring to the genocide that took place in Srebrenica town of Bosnia where over 8,000 Muslims were killed during the 1995 war.

Imran Khan said if the world remained silent, the region could face severe radicaliza­tion and violence.

"I want to warn internatio­nal community if it allows this to happen, it will have severe repercussi­ons and reactions in the Muslim world setting off radicaliza­tion, and cycles of violence," he said.

Chairman National Assembly's Standing Committee on Finance, Asad Umar on Thursday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was taking hard decisions for public interest.

Imran Khan was very optimistic about streamlini­ng the system in the country, he stated while talking to a private news channel programe.

There were challenges in different sectors particular­ly on economic front but all the cabinet team of the prime minister was fully committed to achieve the targets, he added.

He said the present leadership and team of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), government was determined to strengthen economy.

To a question about privatizat­ion, the chairman said, some institutio­ns needed privatizat­ions while the others require reforms only, he added.

Shabbar Zaidi, he said as chairperso­n of Federal Board of Revenue was striving hard to enhance revenue and achieve tax collection targets.

In reply to a question he said progress was being made in provision of clean drinking water, youth training academies on sports, and developmen­t works in the federal capital.
