E’cco (main photo and above) is the bellwether of Brisbane’s dining scene, a restaurant so popular since opening in 1995, it only managed to squeeze in its first refurbishment just 18 months ago. The new, darkened fit-out with its signature tiling has brought the iconic corner location back to the cutting edge, a place chef and owner Philip Johnson’s menus, with their minimal approach to fresh local produce, have always occupied. The friendly, unfussy service adds to the experience.
