KAMICO, ONE OF THE BIGGEST EXHIBITORS IN AGRILINK 2018
SOUTH KOREA MANUFACTURERS will display their machinery in the upcoming Agrilink 2018 to be held on October 4 to 6 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. KAMICO, one of the biggest exhibitors in the event, is being represented in the country by FIT Corea Trading Philippines, Inc.
South Korea and the Philippines are continuing their technical cooperation in agricultural machinery development through KAMICO and the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Center for Postharvest and Machinery Development (DA-PhilMech) pursuant to a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in November 2016. Under the agreement, the two countries will promote cooperation in the following areas: exchange of information on agricultural and rural development policies; technical partnership and exchange of experts to promote the agricultural sector; and promote rural developments and cooperation with the aim of ensuring food security. We can expect many collaborative projects under this partnership.
One of the projects that is currently being undertaken is the development of a village-type corn mill. It was tested initially in PhilMech office and is currently undergoing minor improvements. The said village-type corn mill will be available in October during Agrilink.
South Korea and the Philippines are strengthening their relationship in the field of agricultural advancement through KAMICO and the DA which could be mutually beneficial in the improvement of ties between the two countries.
Meanwhile, here are some of the new machineries that KAMICO will be proudly displaying at the Korean Pavilion during the Agrilink
2018–from the small and big machineries and implements:
Korea 4-wheel drive tractor - This is a full option tractor that can be equipped with many attachments, whether manual- or hydraulic-driven attachments, with 12F x 12R transmissions, turbo-charged engine for more power, TIER III (Stage 3) emission-engine eco-friendly technology. It is designed for both wet and dry land preparations making it suitable for rice, vegetable, and corn farming. The wheel turning radius is 52 degrees, making it easy to maneuver even in small area. There is no need for modifications in the hydraulic systems, unlike other tractor brands.
With its 8 ports hydraulic valve (4 ports in front and 4 ports in rear), this multifunctional tractor can be equipped with front end loader, grapple, backhoe, hay rake, PTO, and hydraulic-driven disc plow, grass cutter, levee maker (for making and cleaning ridge in the paddy field), post hole digger (for making fences and putting posts), underground crops harvesters (for high-value crops such as onion, garlic, potatoes, etc.), fertilizer spreader (for commercial fertilizer), manure spreader (for organic fertilizers), tractor-mounted seeder, sweet potato harvester, and countless attachments without worrying for tractor modifications; thus, it will not affect the power of engine.
Self -rotating PTO-driven disc plow - Unlike the disc harrow, this first-in-the-Philippines disc plow is a PTO driven and the width can be automatically adjusted through the tractor-controlled hydraulic lever. The universal joint attached to tractor PTO and disc plow PTO makes the disc rotate with the PTO together just like a rotavator. By using PTO-driven disc plow, it will ensure that the tractor will not be overloaded during the operation, unlike the disc harrow that the tractor will pull and it is limited only based on soil quality. Many tractors are having problems with weight load, thus, sometimes causing damage to the tractor. This implement can be equipped from 55 horsepower (hp) and above. The tractor must have hydraulic ports in order to use this PTO-driven disc plow. This is to automatically adjust the working width of the disc depending on the tractor size. However, if your tractor has no hydraulic valve, they have
also the manual type which can be equipped from 35hp up to 50hp.
Levee maker - This high-tech tractor implement allows the breaking up of any soil regardless of the water content (20 to 80%) and sends soil over to old levees and forms solid new levees in order to cut up an existing levee, mix the soil from the existing levee, form a new levee, compact the levee soil, and press the surface with the roller. It can form ridges on soil where there were no ridges formed before.
Ride-on mechanized direct seeder machine - Who said planting is difficult? Not with the ride-on mechanized direct seeder machine. This mechanized direct-seeding technology gives a lot of advantages to the farmers. By using this machine, the labor cost will be reduced by 35% compared to transplanting, and it only requires 40 kilos of seeds per hectare. It can plant up to 4 to 5 hectares per day, which makes it more convenient and less time-consuming. With its precision planting, it can plant the seeds uniformly in straight rows with a distance of 30 cm from row to row.
During the study conducted by PhilRice under the Korea Project on International Agriculture (KOPIA), using this mechanized
direct seeder resulted in higher yield compared to the drum seeders, and the mechanical rice transplanter. This is due to the perfect seeding that resulted in good seedling emergence and crop growth. The machine has 2 furrows which allow good water management. It also has an automatic balancing capacity which facilitates planting even in uneven field. This has an 8-row hopper with a capacity of 40 kilos, since every hopper can carry 5 kilos of seeds. This is already good for 1 hectare of planting.
This multi-purpose machine can be equipped with more than 20 implements that is perfect for small farm gardening. This is the Number One brand of cultivator in Korea and the pioneer of cultivators worldwide. This small-size cultivator is capable of ridge weeding, trench hilling, earthing up, ridge making, and drainage making between narrow furrows and inside the greenhouse. You can also attach plow, vinyl mulcher, power sprayer, chipper, rice, and corn reaper, and many more. The free moving handle allows you to rotate up to 360 degrees. You can also adjust the height of the machine depending on the operator’s height. The engine is powerful, lightweight, small, and with low vibration noise.
This is perfect for any crop such as rice, corn, vegetables like onion, cabbage, garlic, ginger, etc., that you want to plant regardless of the farm size.
Korea underground crop harvester - This machine is introduced for harvesting onion, garlic, potato, etc. This tractordriven implement can harvest the crop without damaging them. It gathers the crop at the middle of the ridges by guide plate to prevent leaving out of the ridges. We need to mechanize our high-value crops especially onion, since imported onions are expensive (the DA announced that they will minimize the importation of onions in the country). We will be bringing the complete machinery to mechanize high-value crops from the land preparation up to harvesting.
Boom sprayer - Another breakthrough in farming is the use of boom sprayer. By using this, you can reduce the production time compared to knapsack or manual spraying. With the increasing production of crops, the use of boom sprayer has become an important tool for obtaining uniform watering, and weed management. This will enable the worker to sit comfortably on the machine while spraying by using the convenient speed control lever system. Environmental-friendly farming is also possible through the machine by spraying nutritious supplements and microscopic organisms. It only requires one person to drive the machine while spraying; no supplementary manpower is required. And since spraying is performed at the front view of the machine, this minimizes impairment in the driver’s vision, thus, crop damage is also minimized.
Through its direct spraying method, chemicals are uniformly sprayed inside the crops. Pest controlling effect is excellent, resulting in a less number of spraying, which leads to low pesticide use.
The high ground clearance can give advantage to higher crops; you can adjust the spraying height while being seated by adjusting the electric cylinder. Its substantial effect ensures bigger production with excellent quality and income.
Truck-mounted long sprayer - Another highlight will be this truck mounted long sprayer. This machine is capable of controlling foot-and-mouth diseases, Avian Influenza (AI), used for street trees and forest fires. This machine uses Kohler engine, air-cooled 2-cycle displays with its double air flute, and minimum combustion emission. The spraying nozzles can be adjusted wholly or partially depending on the use or need. It ensures high pest controlling efficiency and makes various spraying jobs possible. All operations (from start to spraying, and boom movements) are done by a remote control.
