AGRICULTURE MAGAZINE WRITER BAGS 2018 ULAT SIPAG AWARD
AGRICULTURE MAGAZINE contributing writer Julio P. Yap Jr. bagged first prize honors in the Print Category of the 2018 Ulat SIPAG Awards of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD). PCAAARRD is one of the sectoral councils under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The awarding ceremony coincided with the 7th anniversary celebration of the DOST-PCAARRD which was recently held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
For winning solo under the print category of the 2018 Ulat SIPAG awards, Yap received a plaque of appreciation from DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña and PCAARRD Acting Executive Director Reynaldo V. Ebora.
Aside from the plaque of appreciation, Yap also received cash prize as a token of gratitude for his outstanding contributions in the field of print media in support of the DOST-PCAARRD’s Research and Development (R&D) Results Utilization banner program.
The different articles of Yap, which were published in Agriculture Magazine that deal with the different commodities under the PCAARRD’s Industry Strategic S&T Program, reflect the tapestry of the country’s verdant and vibrant agricultural landscape.
The Ulat SIPAG awards recognize the efforts of private professional media practitioners who popularize science and technology articles in relation to PCAARRD’s Industry Strategic S&T Programs (ISPs). The Ulat SIPAG Awards, which are given annually, seek to further boost the Council’s branding initiative that focuses on promoting the Strategic Industry Program for Agri-Aqua Growth.
Unlike its predecessor, the PCARRD Professional Media Award (PPMA), Ulat SIPAG, by classification, makes the award more plain folk and parallel with the other three awards given during the PCAARRD anniversary: the Pantas, Tanglaw, and Ugnay, which are all Tagalog words.
Agriculture Magazine is published monthly by the Manila Bulletin and edited by Zac B. Sarian.
