EASY ORGANIC FERTILIZERS

-

GROWING ONE’S OWN FOOD need not involve the extra expense of fertilizers. Tan shares some tips on making plant food from kitchen waste:

Fish Amino Acid (FAA) is a liquid fertilizer made out of fish waste that helps to improve the plant’s health as it contains a lot of nutrients that the plants need.

Materials: Fish gills, brown sugar, jar, water, and a one-liter bottle.

Instructions: Using fish gills, mix it with brown sugar or molasses (a syrup that comes from the extraction of sugarcane or sugar beet juice) and put it into a jar. Ferment it for at least 15 days. After fermenting, get one tablespoon of the fermented liquid and mix in a 1.5-liter bottle filled with water. After mixing, you may now feed it into the soil.

Eggshells

Eggshells are high in calcium that can also be good for fertilizing plants. To make this, roast the eggshells in a pan to make it brittle. Once it is roasted, blend it in the blender until it turns into powder. Ferment it in vinegar for 15 days. Afterward, get one tablespoon of the fermented liquid, dissolve in a 1.5-liter bottle and then apply it into the soil.
