NOT ‘MUD’ ANY­MORE: THE ‘ALI­MANGO’ HAS A NEW NAME

KNOWN LO­CALLY as‘ali­mango’, this ten-legged de­ca­pod crus­tacean is also called the Indo-Pa­cific swamp crab, though ‘ali­mango’ was more com­monly trans­lated as “mud crab.”

As crabs live and thrive in man­groves, the mud crab will now be called the ‘man­grove crab’.
