Do cats give rats on Christmas Day?
Humans decode cats’ gifts to them (yes, including rats)
Meowmy, look! I brought you a little mouse! It’s still alive, by the way.”
If my youngest and most mischievous fur-baby, Mimi, could talk, she would have said exactly that after she once dumped a scared little mouse on my bed.
Yes, it was just another typical day at home – typical, because unorthodox gifts from my fur-babies were a given. On other days, the crumpled paper I put in the trash bin found its way back to my desk, thanks to my whiskered kids who thought I “misplaced” it. The lizards, spiders – and yes, mice – that found their way to our home eventually found their way to my pillow after being captured and mercilessly toyed with by my little predator babies.
Now that it’s December, ‘tis definitely the season to give – and, in the case of hoomans like me, receive – gifts, no matter how seemingly odd, useless, disgusting… or even half-alive!
