Animal Scene

BETTER this NEW YEAR

We all hope to turn a new leaf (or shed old skin, since we’re all about animals here) come New Year! We then asked our Animal Scene contributors this question:

-

WHAT ANIMAL-CENTRIC NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION DO YOU HAVE IN MIND?

Marielle Almario Wrote the piece “Out with the old year, in with the New Year tips” Definitely gonna hop and jump my way into the New Year rockhopper penguinstyle and keep it that way! Let’s rock! *ba dum tss* Alex Bichara Wrote “Solving a problem like Manila Zoo” Pursue veganism and a zero-waste lifestyle. Making the change takes little effort, but greatly helps our health, animals, and the environment. Going vegan and zero-waste are some of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I urge everyone to do the same. Roxanne Libatique Featured unforgettable animals who touched the lives of famous authors in “Forget me not!” . . . To become more active in fighting for animal rights and to finally launch Compassion Prevails, the first animal rights news website in the Philippines. I want to use my talents and skills to speak up for all animals and also to encourage vegans to join us in ending all animal oppression. Richard Leo Ramos Featured cool critters of the South Pole in “Invertebrates of Antarctica” I need to stop being partial to some of the dog companions in the house. That’s a bit hard to do when there are more dogs than people, but they do sometimes get jealous of the favored ones. Aside from that, I just look forward to all of them having a great year, health-wise. Clifton Sawit Wrote about “Philippine Tree Squirrel” in this month’s issue My two cats Ezio and Simba have had the same cat tree since they were six-week-old kittens, when they still used to both fit on the top perch. Now, they’ve completely outgrown it but still use it to bird-watch outside my window. My New Year’s Resolution is to get my kitties the tallest cat tree I can find that fits my little apartment. Make sure to grab a copy of next month’s issue to learn more about the family of animal lovers behind Animal Scene.
