Tiniyak na alinsunod sa atas ng Korte Suprema ang pagsusuri at ebalwasyon ng contraceptives

MULING tiniyak ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sa publiko na ang ebalwasyon at pagsusuri sa contraceptives, kabilang na ang mga saklaw ng kautusan ng Korte Suprema, “is aboveboard and transparent.”

Ang mga resulta sa proseso “will be fully compliant with the standards set by the High Court,” pagtitiyak ni FDA Director-General Nela Charade Puno sa isang pahayag.

Sinabi ni Puno na malapit nang matapos ang pagsusuri ng ahensiya kaugnay ng certification at recertification ng aabot sa 50 contraceptives.

Ang pagbabago ay inilunsad kasunod ng direktiba ng FDA “to observe the basic requirements of due process by conducting a hearing, and allowing the petitioners to be heard, on the re-certified, procured, and administered contraceptive drugs and devices, including Implanon and Implanon NXT; and to determine whether they are abortifacients or non-abortifacients.”

Sa kaparehong pasya, inatasan din ng kataas-taasang hukuman ang FDA na magtakda ng mga panuntunan para sa screening, ebalwasyon at pag-apruba sa lahat ng contraceptive drugs at devices na gagamitin sa ilalim ng Reproductive Health Law.

Saklaw ang contraceptives ng atas ng Korte Suprema para sa recertification kasunod ng petisyon ng grupong Alliance for the Family Foundation Philippines Inc.

Ayon kay Puno, ang mga bahagi ng ebidensiyang isinumite ng iba’t ibang grupo, na susuporta o hindi sasang-ayon sa pag-apruba sa contraceptives “have been strongly considered and evaluated in this process.”

“We are grateful for the interest and the productive participation of these civic groups in the process,” lahad ni Puno. Idinagdag pa niyang ang input na ibinigay sa mga grupong ito “have ensured that the results of the certification and recertification processes will have solid technical and scientific bases.”

Bago ito, hinimok ng FDA ang mga interesadong grupo na magsumite ng mga input para sa proseso ng sertipikasyon at recertification upang magbigyan ang ahensiya ng katibayan noong Agosto 21.

Binigyan ng sampung araw ang mga interesadong partido upang magsumite ng kanilang inputs at ipinaalam din sa mga ito na ang prosesong isasagawa ng FDA ay alinsunod sa ebalwasyon at pagsusurisa contraceptives.

Nilinaw ni Puno na mahigpit na sinusunod ng FDA ang mga patakarang itinakda ng Korte Suprema.

“We will make sure that the results of the technical and scientific processes to evaluate and reevaluate these contraceptives will be made accessible to the public,” aniya.

Idinagdag pa niyang “scientists who comprise the technical evaluation team of the FDA adhere to the highest professional standards and are committed to a transparent evaluation process.”

“These standards of excellence and transparency ensure that the interest of the public is protected,” ani Puno.
