Impeachment kay Bautista pulitika lang –Brillantes

Nakahanap si Commission on Election (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista ng kasangga sa paglaban niya sa kasong impeachment sa kanyang hinalinhan na si dating Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes, Jr.

Sa ipinaskil na pahayag sa kanyang official Facebook account, tinawag ni Brillantes ang desisyon ng House of the Representatives na i-impeach si Bautista na “purely politically” motivated.

Noong Miyerkules, sangkatlo ng 137 miyembro ng Mababang Kapulungan ang bumoto laban sa rekomendasyon ng Committee on Justice na ibasura ang impeachment complaint laban kay Bautista.

Nagbigay-daan ito para sa pagsasagawa ng Senado ng impeachment trial laban kay Bautista.

Binatikos ni Brillantes ang mga mambabatas na bumoto pabor sa impeachment, dahil ibinatay ng mga ito ang kanilang desiyon sa “deficient, defective, flawed and infirmed verification” sa pamamagitan ng hindi pagtukoy sa sufficiency of substance ng mga reklamo laban kay Bautista.

Sinabi niya na nilalabag nito ang karapatan sa due process ni Bautista.

“With the insufficiency in form, respondent Chair Andy (Bautista) never appeared before the House Committee, was never informed of the specific charges against him, was not furnished a copy of the complaint and was not require to answer and therefore there was absolutely no legal process that was undertaken in so far as he is concerned,” ani Brillantes.

Nagbigay din siya ng payo kay Bautista, at hinimok ito na huwag magbitiw sa puwesto hanggang sa matapos ang impeachment trial laban sa kanya.

“Let the House elevate the matter to the Senate to prepare for the trial after reviewing the details of the charges let the House and the Senate spend public money for this preparation for the impeachment trial,” ani Brillantes.
