Briones sa mga guro: Teach students to accept change
Hinamon ni Education Secretary Leonor Briones ang mga guro na baguhin ang paraan ng kanilang pagtuturo upang matulungan ang kanilang mga estudyanye na tanggapin ang mga pagbabago at malagpasan ang mga hamon ng pabagu-bagong mundo.
Nagsalita sa MB Hot Seat, binigyang-diin ni Briones na hindi dapat masyadong pagtuunan ng mga guro ang mga nauuso ngayon dahil nagbabago ang maraming bagay. “By the time our learners graduate, whatever we taught them would be irrelevant,” aniya.
“Every day, theories are being challenged, every day something new is being invented and if you are not abreast with all these things, then your learners will not be prepared for the world outside,” diin ni Briones.
Ang dapat aniyang ituro ng mga guro ay kung paano malalagpasan ng mga estudyante ang pagbabago “because the world is changing very fast.” Sinabi niya na dapat maunawaan ng mga guro na ang mga bagay-bagay ay hindi mananatili “the way they were taught by their teachers.” Kayat dapat turuan ang mga estudyante “to be creative and be taught to solve problems not only to cope but to accept change.”
Binanggit ni Briones na mahirap para sa ibang tao na tanggapin ang pagbabago. “The young people, we have to teach them right from the beginning that the world is changing and it’s not necessarily be a friendly world it might even be a hostile environment,” aniya.
Sinabi ni Briones na “environments are not necessarily friendly or facilitative, they will be challenging” kayat ang papel ng mga guro ay turuan ang kanilang mga estudyante kung paano harapin ang pagpapatuloy ng mga pagbabago.
“We also encourage and challenge them to continually keep up with the world, to continually keep up with the competition from other countries [and] keep up with all that is changing, all that is new and most important, to teach them courage,” pagtatapos niya.
