Wheelchairs na natagpuan sa PhilPost, hinihintay lang na maipadala --DoH

KLINAROng Department of Health (DoH) ang balita hinggil sa “dozens of wheelchairs (that) were found dumped” ng departamento sa Philippine Postal Corp. (PhilPost) office sa Quezon City.

Sa press statement, sinabi ng DoH na ang mga wheelchair sa PhilPost warehouse ay ang mga natitirang unit na ipapadala sa health facilities sa mga lalawigan ng Catanduanes at Masbate sa rehiyon ng Bicol.

“The DOH is due to deliver these wheelchairs -- 88 units for Virac, Catanduanes and 312 units for Masbate -- on Oct. 25,” anang DoH.

“Their Provincial Health Offices cited their limited storage space and requested for temporary holding at the Post office, thus delaying the delivery of the courier service providers hired by the DOH,” dagdag pa nito.

Sa online report na inilabas nitong Linggo, isang “concerned citizen” ang nakakita sa mga wheelchair “moldering in the PhilPost” office sa NIA Road.

Inihayag ng concerned citizen na ayon sa guwardya, dinala ng DoH ang mga naturang wheelchair sa PhilPost dahil wala na itong mapaglagyan sa kanilang opisina.

Sa pahayag, sinabi ng departamento sa PhilPost report na ang umano’y mga sirang wheelchair ay hindi talaga sira ngunit inalis sa mga kahon “when they were soaked due to leakage from their ceiling”.

“All of them were already transferred to another location for cleaning before delivery,” anang DoH, at sinigurado na ginagawa nito ang lahat ng makakaya na “no single centavo of the people’s taxes is wasted”.
