I do not deprive social bloggers of their freedoms –Roque

“Ako pa ang magsasabi kay Pangulong Duterte.”

Ito ang sagot ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque sa patutsada ni Thinking Pinoy blogger Rey Jose Nieto na tila nagkamali si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pagpili sa kanya bilang tagapagsalita at nanawagan sa kanyang followers na ikalat ito upang makarating sa Pangulo.

Banat ni Roque, siya pa mismo ang magsasabi kay Pangulong Duterte na gusto siyang paalisin sa puwesto ni Nieto.

“What I will do is I will facilitate receipt of this information by the President. I will tell the President that Mr. Nieto has said that I should be removed. I will relay that to the President,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi pa ni Roque na handa rin siyang bumaba sa posisyon kung mananaig ang panawagan ng Die-hard Duterte Supporters (DDS).

Nagsimula ang issue nang ipagtanggol ni Roque ang mainstream media sa mga tirada ng DDS at nanawagan na huwag atakehin ang mga lehitimong mamamahayag.

Umalma sina Communications assistant secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson at si Nieto.

Sa briefing sa Palasyo kahapon ng umaga, sinabi ni Roque na pinaninindigan niya ang kanyang opinyon at ipapaabot ang sentimiyento ng DDS sa Pangulo.

“I stated what I think is right, and I stated what I think is true. I am a spokesperson, I deal with the Malacañang Press Corps and I have long been an advocate of freedom of expression. I leave it at that,” ani Roque.

Ayon kay Roque, habang nagsisilbi siya para sa Pangulo ay tatanggapin niya ang lahat ng batikos na ibabato sa kanya.

“That’s the nature of this freedom. I do not deprive the social bloggers of their freedoms as well, and I take all the criticisms as valid inputs in the free marketplace of ideas,” aniya.

Sinabi rin ni Roque na nais pa rin niyang makaharap si Uson upang mas magamit ang papel at impluwensiya nito sa nation building.

“I am calling out to the DDS and I was hoping Asec Mocha could be here to send the message. In due course, we will explain in a manner that all will understand why rights of the free press are important,” ani Roque.

Gayunman sa isang mensahe sa text, sinabi ni Uson na dapat maging malinaw kay Roque na ang DDS ay hindi binabayaran para lumikha ng gulo sa social media.
