Mga produkto para sa pagpaplano ng pamilya makararating hanggang sa mga lalawigan

MAKAKUKUHA na ng mga produkto para sa pagpaplano ng pamilya sa mga rural health unit (RHU) sa buong bansa sa mga susunod na linggo, ayon kay Health Secretary Dr. Francisco Duque III.

“The Department of Health (DoH) intends to cascade all the family planning commodities to civil society organizations (CSOs) and local government units,” sinabi ni Duque sa mga mamamahayag sa media briefing na ginanap sa tanggapan ng kagawaran sa Tayuman sa Sta. Cruz, Maynila.

Ito ay upang masiguro na ang kababaihan sa bansa ay may access sa lahat ng produkto para sa family planning, gaya ng itinatakda ng Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Law, dagdag pa ng kalihim.

Sinabi ni Duque na kabilang sa mga ibibigay sa mga RHU ay ang 261,000 units ng subdermal implants na inimbak sa mga bodega simula pa noong 2015. Ito ay nang magpalabas ang Korte Suprema ng temporary restraining order (TRO) sa paggamit ng Implanon at Implanon NXT hanggang sa ito ay maideklarang non-abortifacient ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Nitong Nobyembre 10, inihayag ng FDA na ang dalawang implant at 49 na iba pang contraceptives ay hindi nagdudulot ng aborsiyon.

Sinabi naman ni Commission on Population (POPCOM) Executive Director, Dr. Juan Antonio Perez III, na halos lahat ng implants na nakaimbak sa Maynila ay mag-e-expire na sa Setyembre 2018.

“There are others that are due to expire around March 2019. We will be prioritizing, through the DoH, the distribution of the Manila-based implants to the regional offices and to the CSOs so that they can be in the field in the next two weeks. That means the people in the field really have a big job to make sure that 200,000 plus implants are used before they expire in September 2018,” sinabi ni Perez sa panayam.

Samantala, ipinagdiwang naman sa Forum for Family Planning and Development, isang nongovernmental organizational na sumusuporta sa populasyon, kalusugan, nutrisyon at kaayusan ng pamilya, ang pagpapawalang-bisa sa TRO laban sa contraceptive implants.

“The FDA’s positive findings are a welcome development, especially for the millions of Filipinos calling for the lifting of the TRO against contraceptives and the full implementation of the RPRH law,” sinabi ng pangulo ng grupo na si Benjamin de Leon.
