4,747 barangay drug free na –PDEA

Bunga ng puspusang kampanya ng gobyerno laban sa ilegal na droga, iniulat ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) na 4,747 sa 42,036 barangay sa bansa ang naideklarang drug-free.

Inilahad ito ni PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino sa monthly update sa “#RealNumbers”.

“These barangays have reached drugcleared status after issuance of a certification by members of the Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Program,” ani Aquino.

Ang Oversight Committee, pinamumunuan ng PDEA, ay binubuo ng provincial representatives ng Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH) at local government units.

“Before declaring that a barangay is free from illegal drug activities, the committee must convene and validate the non-availability of drug supply in the area and the absence of drug transit activity, clandestine drug laboratory and chemical warehouse, marijuana cultivation site, drug den, drug pusher, and user,” dagdag niya.

Ang deklarasyon ay alinsunod sa parameters na itinakda ng Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) batay sa Section 8 ng DDB Board Regulation No. 3 Series of 2017, o mas kilala bilang “Strengthening the Implementation of the Barangay Drug- Clearing Program”.

Itinuturing na drug-affected ang isang barangay kung mayroong iniulat na presensiya ng drug users, pushers, manufacturers, nagtatanim ng marijuana at iba pang infrastructure na may kaugnayan sa ilegal na droga.

Noong Hunyo 2, 2017, ang Batanes ang naging unang probinsiya sa bansa na naiproklamang drug-free.

Sa monthly update sa “#RealNumbers”, sinabi ni Aquino na mula Hunyo 2016 hanggang Nobyembre 27, 2017, 163 drug dens at siyam na clandestine shabu laboratories ang nalansag habang P18.92 bilyon halaga ng droga ang nasamsam.
