Palasyo sa publiko: Hindi nakamamatay ang dengue vaccine
DON’T PANIC! Ang mga basyo ng vials ng bakuna kontra dengue na Dengvaxia na ginamit sa mga mag-aaral sa elementarya sa Maynila at nakaimbak ngayon sa storage room sa Sta. Cruz, Maynila. Kasabay ng paglilinaw ng lumikha ng bakuna, ang Sanofi Pasteur, na hindi nagdudulot ng dengue ang bakuna, sinabihan din ng Malacañang ang publiko na huwag mag-panic dahil sa kontrobersiya.
Hinimok ng Malacañang ang publiko na huwag mag-panic tungkol sa kontrobersiya ng bakuna kontra dengue na Dengvaxia, sinabing hindi nakamamatay ang epekto nito.
“The good news is people should not panic about the dengue vaccine. There is no danger with the dengue vaccine,” sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque sa press briefing sa Palasyo kahapon.
Tinukoy ang resulta ng mga pagaaral ng Sanofi Pasteur, ang lumikha ng kauna-unahang bakuna laban sa dengue, sinabi ni Roque na nakasaad sa pananaliksik na siyam sa 10 Pinoy na nagka-dengue, ang epekto ng bakuna ay “very effective in protecting the patient from another attack of dengue.”
Ayon kay Roque, sa isa sa 10 na hindi pa nagka-dengue, may tsansang makalipas ang tatlong taon ay magkaroon ito ng “severe dengue”— ang terminong ikinababahala ng publiko, aniya.
“And the ‘severe dengue’ that is mentioned by Sanofi will involve symptoms that include two days of fever and hemophilia. ‘Yung pagmamarka, ‘no, sa skin. It is not the deadly type of dengue,” ani Roque.
Mahigit 700,000 batang edad siyam pataas ang nabakunahan ng Dengvaxia sa Metro Manila, Region 3, at Region 4-A noong nakaraang taon.
DATABASE PARA SA MONITORING
Kaugnay nito, hiniling ni Senador Risa Hontiveros sa pamahalaan na magbuo ng database upang matukoy at ma-monitor ang 700,000 batang nabakunahan.
“We need a database to identify the 700,000 affected children and know where they are exactly located in order for the government to keep track of their health and prepare the needed resources and logistics that will allow for quick and appropriate medical responses, if needed,” ani Hontiveros.
“Sanofi must be held responsible and the culpable health officials accountable. While vaccination and immunization are protective and essential elements of preventive health care, implementing an immunization program that could do more harm than good to our children is the height of negligence that could border on the criminal,” dagdag ng senadora.
IWASAN ANG FAKE NEWS
Samantala, sinegundahan ng health officials sa Davao City ang panawagan ng Malacañang sa publiko na maging mahinahon at sa media na huwag nang gatungan pa ang pagkabahala ng publiko kaugnay ng bakuna.
“Let us remain calm and work with the government to assure that the much needed budget for health programs are not wasted,” sabi ni Councilor Mary Joselle Villafuerte.
“I call on our media partners to remain calm and strive to report only scientific and evidence-based reports so as not to add to the panic this has caused,” apela pa ng konsehal.
