Turista sa mundo, aabot sa 1.8 bilyon sa 2030

TINATAYANG aabot sa 1.8 bilyong turista ang maglilibot sa buong mundo sa taong 2030, kaya naman hinikayat ng United Nations World Tourism Organization ang publiko na siguraduhing “positive” at “sustainable” ang epekto ng turismo.

Sinabing kapwa may bentahe at disbentahe ang lahat ng aktibidad ng tao, naniniwala si Taleb Rifai, secretary-general ng United Nations World Tourism Organization na nakasalalay sa publiko ang pagtiyak na ang mga epekto ng paglalakbay ay makatutulong sa pagsusulong ng sustainable development.

“1.8 billion travelers by 2030 could be 1.8 billion opportunities or 1.8 billion disasters and it is all up to us [to choose],” sabi ni Rifai.

Inihayag ni Department of Tourism Assistant Secretary Frederick Alegre na gagampanan ng Pilipinas ang parte nito upang isulong ang kamalayan sa masiglang turismo na ipinangako ni Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo sa kagawaran.

Sa pagkilala sa potensiyal na industriya ng turismo, iprinoklama ng General Assembly ang taong 2017 bilang International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.

“With regard to the UN proclamation, the Philippines is committed to Sustainable Tourism and Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo made this commitment during the hosting of the UNWTO conference last year,” sabi ni Alegre.

Aniya, target ng National Tourism Development Plan for 2016-2022 ng bansa ang makahimok ng 12 milyong dayuhang turista.

Sa kasalukuyan, ang kasalukuyang datos ng Department of Tourism simula Enero hanggang Oktubre 2017 ay aabot sa 5.47 milyong international arrivals.

“We strive to make the country an ideal destination for tourists who enjoy the sun, the sand, and water adventures. We are also now promoting Sports, Farm and Faith Tourism,” dagdag pa ni Alegre.
