Rebelyon sa Mindanao nagpapatuloy –Lorenzana

Dinepensahan kahapon ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana ang desisyon ng gobyerno na palawigin hanggang sa Disyembre 31 ngayong taon ang martial law dahil sa nagpapatuloy ang banta ng mga teroristang grupo sa Mindanao na nagbabalak gayahin ang nangyari sa Marawi sa hinaharap.

Ito ang komento ni Lorenzana sa gitna ng kaliwa’t kanang petisyon na inihain sa Supreme Court (SC) na kumukuwestiyon sa legalidad ng martial law sa Mindanao.

“That is the gist of the petition but according to the interpretation of rebellion, rebellion is the continuing action. So it was started in May and it continued toward October (of last year) and it is the belief of the Armed Forces and the police that there is a continuing reorganization of the rebellious forces to fight against the government and to again conduct a Marawi-type operations sometime in the future. So we believe, I also believe in that that there is also a continuing rebellion in Mindanao,” ani Lorenzana sa mga mamamahayag.

“Well, some of the rebellious forces were not all killed in Marawi. Quite a number of them were able to extricate themselves from somewhere there in Mindanao. Some of them are in Central Mindanao, some are in Lanao and the report that we are getting not only from the military from the police but from civilians so there are recruitment going on there, small groups training so we will address those during this martial law extension,” dugtong niya.

Iginiit din ni Lorenzana na target ng pagpapatupad ng martial law sa Mindanao ang mga teroristang grupo at hindi ang mga aktibista o mga nagpoprotesta.

Unang idineklara ni Pangulong Duterte ang martial law at suspensiyon ng privilege of the writ of habeas corpus sa loob ng 60 araw noong Mayo 23, 2017 dahil sa pag-atake sa Marawi City ng teroristang Maute Group at mga tagasunod nito. Pinalawig ito ng Kongreso hanggang sa Disyembre 31, 2017 sa kahilingan ng Pangulo.
