Ramirez sa NSAs: Umayos kayo!
BINALAAN ni Philippine Spo r ts Commission (PSC) Chairman William Ramirez ang pamunuan ng Philippine Olympic Committee at mga miyembrong National Sports Associations (NSA) na ayusin ang kasalukuyang problema sa liderato dahil hindi mangigimi ang ahensiya na ihinto ang pagbibigay ng suporta sa kanilang budget.
Ayon kay Ramirez sa loob ng halos dalawang taon ng kanyang panunungkulan, pakikipag-ugnayan na sa POC at NSA ang kanilang isinakatuparan para masiguro ang pagkakaisa at kapakanan ng mga atleta.
Ngunit, bigo pa rin umano ang PSC na makumbinsi ang pamunuan ng POC na maayos ang naturang isyu kaya napilitan na siyang magsalita ukol dito.
“Since July 1, 2016, I was already talking to the POC and the NSAs that we wanted unity and it’s almost two years now and it’s getting messy. The time has now come for me to talk since I am duty-bound as Chairman and CEO of the Philippine Sports Commission. I cannot afford to just sit down,” bahagi ng press statement ni Ramirez.
“We have funding coming from Pagcor for the elite athletes, which is between P600 to P900 million. That amount has been remitted to the sports associations as per records, both direct and indirect. They should resolve the crisis. If not, the government will stop funding if they continue to be divided,” aniya.
Kung mangyayari ito, ayon kay Ramirez, mapipilitan ang ahensiya na direktang pangasiwaan ang pagsasanay ng mga maapektuhang atleta para maipagpatuloy ang kanilang pagsasanay at paglahok sa kompetisyon sa abroad.
Ginagawa lamang umano ito ni Ramirez upang turuan ang POC na sumunod sa mandato ng gobyerno, gayung gobyerno ang nagpopondo sa kanila.
“As head of the PSC, mandated by law and respected by both Houses of Congress and the Office of the President to lead Philippine sports, this is a leadership call to all our partners in the POC and the NSAs. We have to behave, we have to transform, we have to unite for the sake of our children and for the country, which has so many problems,”aniya.
Samantala, nakaakda namang magsagawa ng “extraordinary meeting” ngayong araw POC upang talakayin ang kanilang hindi pagsunod sa inirekumendang eleksiyon ng Pasig RTC upang maghalal ng panibagong Presidente at chairman.
