Kaso ng PAO vs DoH chief ‘malicious, oppressive’

“Malisyoso at oppressive”. Ito ang depensa ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III sa kasong isinampa ng Public Attorney’s Office ( PAO) sa Department of Justice (DoJ) laban sa kanya kaugnay ng Dengvaxia vaccine.

Sa pulong-balitaan kahapon, nilinaw ni Duque na hindi siya dapat na madawit sa kaso at wala siyang kinalaman sa isyu ng Dengvaxia dahil bago lamang siya sa puwesto at hindi rin siya ang nagpatupad nito.

Binanatan din ng kalihim si PAO chief, Atty. Persida Rueda Acosta dahil sa pagdadawit sa kanya sa kaso.

“The case filed by the Public Attorney’s Office is malicious and oppressive. ( PAO chief) Atty. [Persida] Acosta’s actions are clearly unbecoming of a public official and their counterproductive effects are prejudicial to the best interests of the service,” ayon kay Duque.

“I have nothing to do with it. Kasi bago pa lang ako. Dumating ako November 7. Itong kawawang bata na si Abbie, naturukan daw ng November 17. So, ten days ako na ‘yung Secretary of Health. Ang basis nila for filing the case now is nagpabaya raw ako. Na hinayaan ko raw na maturukan,” paliwanag ng kalihim.

“So, I have the proof to show that number one, I have nothing to do with the implementation and I have nothing to do with the continuation... completely zero,” giit pa ni Duque.

Aniya, hindi ipinagwalangbahala ng DoH ang kaso kaya nang matukoy na maaaring makasama sa mga taong hindi pa nagkaka-dengue ang pagtuturok ng Dengvaxia ay kaagad na niyang ipinatigil ang programa.

“While we are focusing on ensuring the health and wellness of the more than 837,000 children who received Dengvaxia, I will nonetheless answer all of these baseless allegations,” himutok pa ng kalihim.
