Ancient mass child sacrifice nahukay sa Peru

LIMA, Peru (AP) — Ibinahagi ng mga archaeologist sa Peru na nahukay sa lugar ang sinasabing world’s largest single case of child sacrifice.

Nakuhay sa pre-Columbian na libingan, na kilala bilang Las Llamas, ang 140 buto ng mga bata na nasa edad lima hanggang 14 nang sumailalim ang mga ito sa isang ritual sacrifice 550 taon na ang nakalilipas, ayon sa mga eksperto.

Nahukay din sa lugar ang labi ng 200 llamas na sinasabing kabilang din isinakripisyo sa ritwal.

“They were possibly offering the gods the most important thing they had as a society, and the most important thing is children because they represent the future,” pahayag ni Gabriel Prieto, archaeologist at propesor sa Peru’s National University ng Trujillo na nanguna sa paghuhukay. “Llamas were also very important because these people had no other beasts of burden, they were a fundamental part of the economy,” dagdag pa ni Prieto.
