10 Pinoy nangibabaw sa science, engineering fair
Pinuri ni Education Secretary Leonor Briones ang mga estudyante sa Junior at Senior High School (JHS/SHS) na kumatawan sa Pilipinas at nagwagi sa 2018 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) sa Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Nagpahayag si Briones ng paghanga at pasasalamat sa 10 JHS at SHS students na nagbigay ng karangalan sa Pilipinas sa ISEF 2018 na idinaos nitong Mayo 13 hanggang 9.
“Among the researches of 1,802 participants from 81 countries, the products of your long toil and tedious study stood out,” aniya sa mga estudyante.
Nasungkit nina Joscel Kent Manzanero, Keith Russel Cadores, at Eugene Rivera ng Camarines Sur National High School ang Second Award na $1,500 sa Energy: Physical category para sa kanilang Design and Development of Solar-Tracking Arduino-Rooted PV Panels, habang sina Elaine Nicole Saquin at Randy Molejona Jr. ng Iloilo National High School (INHS) ay nanalo ng Third Award na $1,000 sa Earth and Environmental Sciences category para sa kanilang research sa Biosorption of Manganese Mine Effluents Using Crude Chitin from Shell Wastes of Philippine Bivalves.
Samantala, iniuwi ni Pete Gabriel Ledesma, ng INHS, ang Fourth Award na $500 sa Materials Science Category para sa kanyang pag-aaral sa PhytoreductiveHydrothermal Synthesis of Polyethylene Glycol-coated Magnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery Applications.
Ang Philippine delegation ay kinumpleto nina Leann Patrice Ganzon at Anne Nicole Occena ng INHS na nagsumite ng kanilang study sa Garcinia binucao Fruit and Leaf: PhytochemicalsMediated Antioxidant, Alpha-Amylase and Alpha-Glucosidase Enzyme Inhibitors; Adrian Maglasang ng City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy sa Cebu na nanaliksik sa Propulsion Performance Evaluation of a Lego-Based Carangiform Mechanism for a Prototype Robotic Fish Unmanned Underwater Vehicle; at Roehann Mykael Zabat ng Juan R. Liwag Memorial School sa Nueva Ecija na nag-analisa sa Reducing Dopaminergic Neurodegeneration and Motor Dysfunction Using Crude Ethanolic Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) Leaf Extract on a Transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans Model of Parkinson’s Disease.
