ERC commissioners, mag-resign na lang—solons

Magbitiw na lang kayo!

Ito ang payo ng mga kongresista sa apat na komisyuner ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) matapos matanggap ang ikalawang suspension order mula sa Office of the Ombudsman, anim na buwan lang ang nakalipas mula sa unang suspensiyon sa mga ito.

“Maybe it’s time they resign,” payo kahapon ni Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel kina Commissioners Gloria Victoria Yap-Taruc, Alfredo Non, Josefina Patricia Magpala-Asirit, at Geronimo Sta. Ana.

Tatlong buwang suspensiyon ang ipinataw ng Ombudsman sa apat na komisyuner dahil sa simple neglect of duty, na may kinalaman sa “tolerating the misuse of Bill Deposits (BD) by allowing its commingling with the capital or operation cost of Meralco.”

“We have also completed our committee report and we have recommended [the] further investigation of ERC commissioners and if there is substantial evidence to file the necessary cases,” dagdag pa ni Pimentel.

“’Di ba the best na dapat mangyari na lang is to just resign or for the President [Rodrigo Duterte] to fire them?” pahayag naman ni de facto House opposition bloc head, Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr.

“Parang inutil na ang ERC kasi di na nila magawa mandate nila. Because they’re all suspended,” ani Baguilat.

Suportado naman ni CIBAC Party-List Rep. Sherwin Tugna ang desisyon ng Ombudsman na muling suspendihin ang apat na ERC commissioner.
