Mayor Asis basketball tilt sa Agusan

BILANG bahagi ng taunang pagdiriwang ng Bayugan’s 11th Charter Day Bayugan Festival, ang 8th Mayor Kim Lope A. Asis Invitational Basketball Tournament 2018 ay muling gaganapin sa Hunyo 2629 sa Lope Asis Memorial Gymnasium sa Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.

Anim na magagaling na teams -- tatlo mula Manila, dalawa mula sa Visayas and isa mula Mindanao -- ang lalahok sa prestihiyosong kumpetisyon sa siyudad na kilala bilang “Cut Flower Capital of the Province.”

“For the past eight years, it has been customary for us to treat our constituents with a very exciting and highly-entertaining basketball action to make our Charter Day and Bayugan Festival celebrations more memorable and meaningful,” pahayag ni Bayugan Mayor Kim Lope Asis.

“And we take pride for this being the biggest sporting event not only in our province but perhaps in the entire Mindanao region,” dagdag pa ni Mayor Asis, na pinili rin si multititled coach Van Halen Parmis bilang tournament organizer.

Ang mga kalahok na teams: Vincare Pharma-University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, Madyaw Construction-National University Bulldogs, ARQ Builders-Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates, Phoenix Fuel Life- University of Cebu Webmasters, Construction/ Southwestern University Phinma Cobras, at Greene Builders/Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan Crusaders.

Ang UST at NU ay kapwa matibay na UAAP title contenders, habang ang Lyceum ay kasalukuyang NCAA runner-up.

Ang UC at SWU ay dalawa sa mga sikat na koponan sa CESAFI.

Nakataya sa four-day tournament ang mga tropeo at cash prizes, tampok ang P200,000 sa kampeon.

Batay sa tournament format, hahatiin ang mga teams sa dalawang grupo na tig-tatlo para sa single-round robin eliminstion. Ang mangungunang dalawang koponan sa magkabilang grupo ay uusas sa crossover semifinals bago magsasagupa ang mga winners sa isang winner-take-all showdown sa Hunyo 29.
