Mexico kinondena ang US separation policy

MEXICO CITY (AFP) – Kinondena ng Mexico nitong Martes ang administrasyon ni US President Donald Trump sa paghihiwalay sa mga batang immigrant sa kanilang mga magulang na idinetine matapos ilegal na tumawid sa US-Mexican border.

‘’In the name of the Mexican government and people, I want to express our most categorical and energetic condemnation of this cruel and inhuman policy,’’ sinabi ni Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray sa press conference.

‘’We call on the United States government, at the highest level, to reconsider this policy and give priority to the wellbeing and rights of these boys and girls, regardless of their nationality and immigration status.’’

Nahaharap ang Trump administration sa lumalawak na pagkondena sa loob at labas ng bansa dahil sa mga paghihiwalay na ito, na bunga ng ‘’zero-tolerance’’ policy sa undocumented migrants.

Kabilang ang United Nations, international rights groups, Christian evangelicals, si Pope Francis, dating US first ladies at mga kilalang personalidad sa mismong Republican party ng pangulo ang bumabatikos sa patakaran.

Nagpahayag ang Guatemala ng ‘’concern’’ sa patakaran at sa magiging epekto nito. Nagpetisyon naman ang human rights ombudsmen ng Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala at Honduras sa Inter-American Commission on Human Rights sa Washington na gumitna para maharang ang ‘’dangerous’’ policy.
