‘’I would also like to ask you how I can help these children to reunite with their families as quickly as possible.’’
Tumagal lamang ng isang oras ang pagbisita ni Melania sa Texas dahil sa malakas na ulan at flash flood. Muli niyang isinuot ang jacket at sumakay sa eroplano pabalik sa Andrews Air Force Base malapit sa Washington.
Sa kanyang written statement matapos bumalik sa White House, sinabi ng first lady na ang pagbisita “[had] impacted me greatly.” Nanawagan siya sa Congress na magkaisa sa pagbalangkas ng immigration legislation na pakikinabangan ng mga bata.
“Spending time with them reinforces the fact that these kids are in this situation as a direct result of adult actions,” ani Melania Trump. “It is my hope that Members of Congress will finally reach across the aisle and work together to solve this problem with common sense immigration reform that secures our borders and keeps families together.”
