GAGANAPIN sa bansa ang Miss Tourism ism Asia International 2018 pageant ngayong ong taon, at mahigit 30 kandidata na ang kumpirmadong kasali sa paligsahan.
Inihayag ni Amy Sunio-Abarquez, CEO at President of Miss Tourism Philippines Philippines, Inc., na layunin ng pageant na makahanap ng global beauties na tutulong na mapahusay at mapanatili ang turismo sa buong mundo.
“MTAI envisions itself as an Asian center stage for diverse beauties from around the world where they will get to showcase the resplendence of their nation’s citizens, culture, crafts and cuisine,” lahad ni Abarquez, na makikipagtulungan sa philanthropist at negosyanteng si Antonio B. Abarquez, ang chief financial officer.
Ilan sa mga bansang kumpirmadong kasali sa international pageant ay ang Pilipinas, South Africa, Ghana, Namibia, Liberia, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Albania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Kosovo, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Mexico, at marami pang iba.
“We have a lot of inquiries from national directors abroad. But I’m looking at 40 candidates for our inaugural pageant. That’s big enough for us,” sabi ni Abarquez, sa press conference sa Vivere Hotel sa Alabang, Muntinlupa City kamakailan.
Inihayag din ni Abarquez na pinag-iisipan nilang tumanggap ng dalawang kandita kada bansa dahil “they have their own tourism to promote.” Ang finals ng Miss Tourism Asia International ay nakatakdang ganapin sa Disyembre 5.
Nang hingian ng kanyang opinyon tungkol sa estado ng turismo sa bansa, sinabi ni Abarquez na napakaraming maihahandog ng bansa, lalo na ngayon. “Since I’ve been travelling around the world and I am not bragging. I think the Philippines is still one of the countries that they really love to visit.I am positive that tourism is still the No. 1 income generator here in the Philippines. We have so much pristine beaches around us and I think that’s one encouragement for them to visit us.”
Ipinakita rin ni Abarquez sa press ang 28 kandidata na maglalaban-laban para sa Miss Tourism Philippines 2018 pageant.
Sa press presentation, ang mga nagwagi ng special awards ay sina Jeniel Ela Estrella ng Bacnotan, La Union, Miss Photogenic; at Nina Monia Madrid Aron, ng Caloocan, bilang Darling of the Press.
Opisyal na iniendorso ng Department of Tourism and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang Miss Tourism Philippines 2018 pageant.
Apat sa major titles ang tatangkaing sungkatin ng mga kandiata sa contest: Ang Miss Philippines-World Tourism Ambassador, Miss Tourism Philippines-Asia International, Miss Tourism Philippines-World at Miss Tourism Philippines-Universe.
Ang coronation night ng Miss Tourism Philippines 2018 pageant ay gaganapin sa Chateau Royale sa Nasugbu, Batangas sa August 25.
