SONA speech ni Digong pinuri

Pinuri kahapon ng Department of National Defense (DND) si Pangulong Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte sa kanyang pagsisikap na maresolba ang gusot sa China kaugnay sa West Philippine Sea (WPS) sa pamamagitan ng diplomasiya.

Ito ang komento ni DND Spokesman Arsenio Andolong matapos tiyakin ni Pangulong Duterte sa ikatlong State of the Nation Address (SONA) nito noong Lunes na hindi isinusuko ng Pilipinas ang mga karapatan nito sa pinagtatalunang West Philippine Sea (WPS) sa kabila ng gumagandang relasyon ng bansa sa China.

“The West Philippine Sea issue represents just a portion of the sum total of our relations with China, thus, the DND supports the President’s efforts to manage it through diplomatic means,” ani Andolong sa isang text message.

“Having said that, however, the DND and AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) will defend our country’s sovereignty with all the means and resources available to us if and when the need arises,” dugtong niya.

Sa kanyang SONA speech, sinabi ni Digong na kahit na isinusulong niya ang mas magandang relasyon sa China na nagkaroon ng mga positibong resulta, hindi niya isinusuko ang mga karapatan ng bansa sa pinagtatalunang karagatan.

“Our improved relationship with China, however, does not mean that we will waver in our commitment to defend our interests in the West Philippine Sea,” aniya.

Pinuri rin ng mga miyembro ng Kamara ang ikatlong SONA ni Digong na nakatuon sa kagalingan at pag-aangat sa buhay ng mahihirap at underprivileged sectors.

Binanggit ni Rep. Michael Romero ang unconditional cash transfer (CCT) program ng administrasyong Duterte para agapayan ang mahihirap na pamilya, at ang Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law.

“Doon ito nag-dwell, yung mga mahihirap na kababayan natin, who are below the poverty line. The government is willing to give P200 per family, which is a big help to subsidize their meals three times a day. From two times a day, now they can eat three times,” ani kay Romero.

Sinabi naman ni Rep. Geraldine Roman na ang SONA speech ni Digong ay “more sober and concise” kaysa kanyang inasahan. Hindi na nagbibiro at nagmumura ang Pangulo, at malaman na ang kanyang mensahe.

Ayon naman kay Rep. Reynaldo Umali, malinaw ang mensahe ng Pangulo na itutuloy nito ang kanyang adbokasiya sa kriminalidad, illegal na droga, katiwalian, at federalismo. “These are his campaign promises, so I am happy that the President has remained true to his promises”.
