Banta ni Sen JV: PM GMA HAHARANGIN

Hinulaan kahapon ni Senador Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito na magkakapitbisig ang mga senador sa sandaling maamoy nila na plano ng bagong halal na si House Speaker Gloria MacapagalArroyo na manatili sa kapangyarihan bilang prime minister sa ilalim ng federal form of government na isinusulong ng administrasyong Duterte.

“That, you can be assured that many of the senators will resist this kind of move if this move is part of the plan to perpetuate herself to become the prime minister. Many of the people will oppose this, especially in the Senate,” sinabi ni Ejercito sa mga mamamahayag sa sidelines ng all-senators caucus sa opisina ni Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

Ito ang komento ni Ejercito isang araw matapos magtagumpay ang mayorya ng mga miyembro ng House of Representatives na patalsikin si Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez bilang Speaker at ipalit si Arroyo bago at pagkatapos ng ikatlong State of the Nation Address (SONA) ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Sinabi ng senador na nakatitiyak siya na magkakaisa ang administration at opposition senators para harangin ang planong ito sakaling ipilit ng administrasyong Duterte ang paglilipat sa federal form of government.

“I just hope whatever this move for her to be Speaker, would be to improve the working relationship between the House and the Senate,” ani Ejercito.

“But if the motive is to shift to federalism and eventually, GMA (Arroyo’s initials) becomes the prime minister, I think a lot of people will object,” punto niya.

OK SA PALASYO Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque na ayos lang sa Malacañang makatrabaho Speaker Arroyo dahil sa “very good relations” nito sa Pangulo, at itinanggi na may kinalaman ang Palasyo sa pagbabago ng liderato ng Kamara.

“It has always been the Palace position that we do not interfere in purely internal matters of the House. We are ready to work with the chosen leader of the House of Representatives. And because Mrs.— Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is now the House Speaker, we are of course able and ready to work with Speaker Arroyo,” ani Roque sa press briefing sa Palasyo.

CHANGE IS COMING Umaasa naman ang mga lider ng House of Representatives ng mga pagbabago sa committee chairmanships.

Inaasahan nina Southern Leyte Rep. Roger Mercado, Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, at Isabela Rep. Rodito Albano na ang bagong committee chairmen ay papangalanan House majority, sa pamumuno ng bagong talagang si Speaker Arroyo.

Sa kasalukuyan, mayroong 72 House committees.

“Definitely, there will be changes in the committee leadership,” ani Mercado, chairman ng House Committee on Constitutional Amendments, sa isang panayam.

Sa hiwalay na panayam, sinabi ni Barbers, chairman ng House Committee on Dangerous Drugs na bumoto para kay Speaker Arroyo, na “there’s a big possibility that it will happen.”

Ito rin ang obserbasyon ni Isabela Rep. Rodito Albano, Majority Leader sa makapangyarihang Commission on Appointments na hindi bumoto kay Arroyo.

Sa isang panayam, sinabi ni Deputy Speaker at Capiz Rep. Fredenil Castro na magkakaroon ng “minimal changes” at hindi naman ibig sabigin na papalita ang House leaders na hindi bumoto kay Arroyo.
