Ex-PNoy dapat ding sisihin sa ‘killings’ –Roque

Isa si dating Pangulong Benigno Aquino III sa mga dapat sisihin sa culture of impunity ng bansa dahil sa kabiguan nitong matugunan ang media killings sa panahon ng kanyang termino, sinabi ng Malacañang kahapon.

Ito ang akusasyon ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque matapos kontrahin ni Aquino ang pahayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na nagmamalasakit sa buhay ng tao higit kaysa karapatang pantao.

“I wish he did more also in protecting human life because it was during his administration the UN (United Nations) also noticed that we were in breach of our obligation to right to life especially in the killings of journalists,” ani Roque sa news conference sa Palasyo.

“As a former president, he shares partly in the blame for this culture of impunity,” dugtong niya.

Tinuligsa ni Aquino ang kontrobersiyal na pahayag ni Duterte sa State of the Nation Address (SONA) nito tungkol sa drug war, idiniin na hindi maaaring ihiwalay ang buhay ng tao sa karapatang pantao. Iginiit ng dating pangulo na ang lahat ay mayroong karapatan sa basic human rights.

Sa kanyang SONA noong Hulyo 23, idineklara ni Duterte na, “If you think that I can be dissuaded from continuing this fight because of demonstrations, your protests, which I by the way find misdirected, then you got it all wrong. Your concern is human rights, mine is human lives.”

Depensa ni Roque, ang tinutukoy ni Duterte ay pagpoprotekta sa human rights sa pamamagitan ng pagsagip ng mga buhay mula sa ilegal na droga.

“The President is espousing, protecting, advancing human rights if you view human life as part of human rights. No argument there,” dugtong niya.
