Matthysse, nagretiro na

TULAD ng kanyang promoter na si Golden Boy Promotions big boss Oscar dela Hoya na nagretiro matapos palasapin ng pagkatalo ni eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao via 8th round TKO noong 2008, nagretiro na rin sa professional boxing si Lucas Matthysse ng Argentina.

Inihayag ni Matthysse ang pamamahinga sa boksing kamakalawa matapos talunin via 7thround knockout ng Pambansang Kamao nitong Hulyo 15 sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Tatlong beses bumagsak si Matthysse sa sagupaan sa 3rd, 5th at 7th rounds at ito ang pinakamasakit na pagkatalo niya sa halos 40 anyos nang si Pacquiao na naagaw ang kanyang WBA welterweight title.

“Thanks to boxing for changing my life,” sabi ni Matthysse sa kanyang Instagram account. “I remember the Argentine national boxing team, where it was very hard but good. I remember in my life all of the kids that I met and the tremendous boxers who represented Argentina with good and bad results but it was a great experience in my life that I will always remember.”

“I am proud that I maintained my career for 10 years at the world level, where I fought with the best in boxing and I fulfilled my dream of being a world champion,” dagdag ni Matthysse. “Thanks to all those who followed me in my career, for all of their love, because that is the most beautiful thing in this sport of boxing, which is a nice environment. Today, I decide to hang up the gloves because another stage in my life is coming. And many thanks to all of the people that I met thanks in boxing.”

Nagretiro si Matthysse na may 39 na panalo, 5 talo na 36 sa pagwawagi ay sa pamamagitan ng knockout sa mataas na 80 porsiyento.
