Libel at grave misconduct vs Calbayog officials

- Marie Tonette Grace Marticio

TACLOBAN CITY – Nahahaharap ngayon sa kasong libelo at grave misconduct sina Calbayog City Mayor Ronald Aquino, Vice-mayor Diego Rivera at anim na konsehal ng lungsod.

Isinampa ni Samar Police Provincial Director PSSupt. Nicolas Torre III ang mga kaso sa office of the Ombudsman, matapos ideklara ang nangungunang pulis sa Samar bilang persona non grata sa Calbayog nitong Mayo 21, 2018.

Ang nasabing resolusyon ay mula kay Councilor Rey James Uy, na inaprubahan nina Councilor Charlito Coñejos, Rosalia Chuca, Sylvan Joseph Ayong, Billy Martires at Cesar Sabenecio, na nagsasabing nabigo si PSSupt. Torre na "effectively perform his duties and responsibilities in preventing crimes arresting identified criminals who gave imminent threats or danger in Calbayog City."

Binanggit dito ang mga nangyaring insidente ng pagpatay Barangay Catabunan, kung saan isang kandidato sa pagkachairman ng barangay at tatay nito ang pinatay at isang magsasaka ang pinugutan ng ulo.

Isinasaad din sa resolusyon na "[he was] allegedly engaged in a partisan political activity when he provided services only to a wellknown political personality in the province of Samar."

Nakasaad din na, "the people of Calbayog City lost their trust and confidence over the police service of Torre and resolved to express their sentiments by declaring him as persona nongrata."

Samantala, naghain din ng reklamo si Torre laban kay Mayor Aquino, na hinihiling na tanggalin bilang bahagi ng National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) dahil sa umano’y , "providing material support to criminal elements; and engaging in acts inimical to national security or which negate the effectiveness of the peace and order campaign."

"Let the law take its course. Tama na ang kwentuhan and verbal na atakehan. Isulat natin at dalhin sa tamang forum para magkalaman na kung ano ba talaga," ayon kay Torre.
