Jr. Volcanoes, kampeon sa Pacific Cup

GINAPI ng Philippine U19 National Developmen­t Rugby Team, ang Hong Kong, 17-5, para makopo ang First Pacific Cup nitong weekend sa Southern Plains Sports Field sa Calamba, Laguna.

Kahanga-hanga ang Pinoy Junior Volcanoes sa araw ng pagdiriwan­g sa ‘Araw ng mga Bayani’, sa pangunguna nina winger John Michael Donina at Raphael Barberis ay nakaabante sa 5-0 tungo sa impresibon­g panalo.

“A very close match, so proud of the team for the win today, to win the first game on Friday, then win again today, very proud” pahayag ni National coach Carlito Abono.

Masa ikatlong taon ang serye at ang panalo ang una para sa Junior Volcanoes, ayon kay Jake Letts, Philippine Rugby’s General Manager.

“I have witness rugby in the Philippine­s for 13 years now, to see the developmen­t of Rugby and its rise locally is amazing. Credit goes to both teams and both Unions to focus on local developmen­t,” aniya.

“A solid start this year, very happy for our 15s program to record those statistics. It’s only just begun however, we have an intense 7s season coming up so we have our work cut out for us for the rest of the year” sambit naman ni Chris Everingham, Performanc­e Manager for Philippine Rugby

Kumpiyansa ang Volcanoes para sa susunod na kampanya sa sia Sevens Series sa September at October kung saan kapawa mapapalaba­n ang Men’s team sa Hong Kong, habang ang Women’s ay tutungo sa Brunei.
