Comelec bibili ng 72,000 ballot boxes

Bibili ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) ng mahigit 72,000 ballot boxes para sa May 2019 midterm polls.

Sinabi ni Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez na kailangan nilang bumili ng bagong ballot boxes dahil karamihan ng mga ginamit noong 2016 elections ay hindi na magagamit dahil sa pending electoral protests gaya ng protest case ni dating senador Bongbong Marcos laban kay Vice President Leni Robredo.

“Many ballot boxes are currently either involved in pending electoral protests or covered by the Precautionary Protective Order (PPO) issued by the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET),” aniya sa isang panayam.

“We cannot use these ballot boxes for the 2019 elections, making it necessary to procure new ones,” idinagdag ni Jimenez.

Nauna rito ay nag-isyu ang PET ng PPO na inaatasan ang poll body na ipreserba at pangalagaan ang integridad ng, kasama ang iba, lahat ng ballot boxes at mga laman nito, kabilang ang mga balota, voter’s receipts, at election returns na kasama sa kasong Marcos versus Robredo.

Sa kanyang Invitation to Bid, naglaan ang Comelec-Bids and Awards Committee ng P173,755,524 (P2,396 bawat ballot box) para sa pagbili ng 72,519 piraso ng ballot boxes.

Ang interesadong bidders ay maaaring makuha ang kumpletong set ng Bidding Documents sa Comelec-BAC Secretariat na nasa Shipping Center Bldg. sa Intramuros, Manila, hanggang sa Setyembre 21.
