1,400 Pinoy sa Jerusalem, kukumustahin ni Duterte

JERUSALEM, Israel Makikipagkita si Pangulong Duterte sa 1,400 Pinoy ditto, sa simula ng kanyang makasaysayang biyahe sa Middle East.

Sinabi ni Philippine Ambassador to Israel Nathaniel Imperial na makakasalamuha ng Pangulo ang mga kababayan sa Ramada Hotel sa Israel, sa Linggo ng gabi.

Hindi natuloy ang pagdalaw ni Duterte sa Jerusalem noong isang taon dahil sa giyera sa Marawi City.

“And so this is a fulfillment of that promise. And they are very excited, they are ecstatic, and we expect a very good crowd when the President meets the Filipino community upon his arrival on Sunday,” sabi ni Imperial.

May 29,000 Pinoy na nagtatrabaho at nakatira sa Israel, at 24,000 ay caregivers.

Pinuri ni Imperial ang working conditions ng overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sa Israel bilang isa sa pinakamaayos sa Middle East.

“We are very happy to report that the labor conditions in Israel are some of the best in the Middle East. Our workers here receive the highest minimum wage in all of the Middle East. And they have days off, they have the right to worship and practice their faith,” aniya.

Dagdag niya, tumutulong ang embahada sa Jerusalem sa pagpapatibay ng isang labor agreement upang protektahan ang mga OFW laban sa exploitation.

Ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), ang memorandum of agreement hinggil sa employment ng Filipino caregivers ay isa sa mga kasunduan na inaasahang lalagdaan habang nasa Israel ang Pangulo.
