Bonus, R100K retirement sa barangay officials

Isinusulong ni Senator Win Gatchalian na mabigyan ng P100,000 retirement fee at dagdag na Christmas bonus ang lahat ng opisyal ng barangay sa bansa.

Ayon sa senador, hindi na sapat ang pondo na nakalaan sa mga opisyal ng barangay, alinsunod sa Local Government Code of 1991 (Republic Act 7160).

“The provisions in the Local Government Code enumerating the benefits and privileges for these barangay officials leave much to be desired. If we are to effectively give to the local government units the self-sufficiency that the government envisions, we must be able to provide the conditions conducive to a productive leadership,” saad sa Senate Bill No. 1867 ni Gatchalian.

Layunin nitong punuan ang lahat ng pagkukulang ng kasalukuyang batas sa pamamagitan ng dagdag na honorarium at Christmas bonus.

Naunang ikinasa sa dalawang kapulungan ng 15th Congress ang P1,000 monthly allowance sa mga chairman, tanod at lupong tagapamayapa, at tataasan sa P2,000 hanggang P5,000.

Ang P100,000 lump sum ay ibibigay naman sa mga nagretirong barangay official na may 60 taon, at nagsilbi ng siyam o tatlong termino bago magretiro.

“The barangay officials are oncall 24/7 for the welfare of their constituencies. Their political jurisdiction maybe small but their duties are expansive and call for direct assimilation among members of the community,” sabi pa ng senador.
